Library Services

The Services of the Rutgers Law Library are available to Rutgers School of Law-Newark students, faculty and staff (link to service pages for each group). Limited services are available for other members of the Rutgers University community and visiting attorneys. The Law Library collection is open to the public (link to public reference) for research purposes only. Members of the public must sign the guest book at the Circulation Desk when visiting the Law Library.

Basic Rules for Using Services

A Rutgers University ID or an Attorney's Card (obtainable at the Circulation Desk for a fee) is required to use Reserve Materials. Members of the public must fill out a Daily Registration form for a one-day-pass to access Reserve Materials. Only Rutgers University ID holders and Attorney Card users may check out circulating materials from the Library. Identification is not required to access the U.S. Government Document Depository materials. The Law Library does not provide computer access to the public. Due to our contracts with LexisNexis and West Publishing, access to LexisNexis and WESTLAW is restricted to faculty, students and staff of the Rutgers School of Law-Newark. The Rutgers University Computing Services (RUCS) laboratories are open to all Rutgers University ID holders.
